(SO QUIET)

12" x 9," 32 pages

Archival Color Inkjet, Acid Free 100lb Text, Plastic Screen Wrap-Around Front Cover, Plexiglass Back Cover

2003

It's a different sort of pollution Gilbert is dealing with in the color book (SO QUIET) - the urban annoyance of noise pollution. The artist uses her hands and non-textual letter combinations to visually capture the sounds that disrupt her life. Done in vibrant, unreal color this book communicates in senses rather than verbally. Here the hands are characters that playfully interact with the comical abstractions, creating a colorful rhythm all their own.
