Join us for a nonfiction-esque evening that will feature a combo of personal essay writing and fictionalized memoir, featuring 3 talented authors:<\/p>\n

Jenifer Margaret Kelly<\/strong> is a playwright who was born in Brooklyn but grew up mainly in Miami. Her play My Brooklyn<\/em> was a finalist in this summer\u2019s Eugene O\u2019Neill Playwright\u2019s Conference at Yale, and she is very involved with the Irish American Artists and Writers community in New York City. She is also the author of many creative nonfiction essays, poems, and short stories, and is currently working on a young adult novel entitled The Girl with the Red Umbrella<\/em>. She attended UCLA film school and has an MFA in dramatic writing. Moving to New York City a few days before Super Storm Sandy, which she swears was a coincidence, she has nevertheless been in a whirlwind of one type or another ever since.\u00a0<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Roberta Lawrence<\/strong>\u00a0is a singer\/songwriter whose\u00a0songs\u00a0one day spontaneously\u00a0expanded into short stories and novels.\u00a0She will be reading from A Princess Comes to Chelsea\u2014<\/em>the prologue from\u00a0her novel-in-progress, Quietly Crazy for You<\/em>,\u00a0which is inspired\u00a0by years spent in the alternate\u00a0universe of jazz and studio musicians\u00a0in the late 1970s\u00a0and 1980s. Roberta has received a New Voices Award from the Writer’s Voice\u00a0for\u00a0Princess<\/em>, a Ludwig Vogelstein Fiction grant, and multiple artist\u00a0residencies at Ragdale and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. Her articles and reviews have appeared in BOMB<\/em>, Musician<\/em>, ASCAP in Action<\/em>,\u00a0Backstage<\/em>, and other publications.\u00a0She helms her\u00a0own public relations\u00a0firms, Roberta Lawrence Media\u00a0and Soundcheck PR, and is a singer\/songwriter, lyricist,\u00a0and record producer. The\u00a0CD that she produced featuring her late husband, trumpeter\/composer\u00a0Mike Lawrence, Nightwind<\/em>, topped the Billboard charts\u00a0and is due to be re-released later this year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Darley Stewart<\/strong> is a Scottish-Korean fiction writer based in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Her work has appeared in Tin House<\/em>, Funhouse Magazine<\/em>,\u00a0The Ocean State Review<\/em>,\u00a0Flapperhouse<\/em>, The Brooklyn Rail<\/em>,\u00a0Battersea Review<\/em>, Electric Literature<\/em>, and elsewhere.\u00a0She is the recipient of a 2016 Fiction\u00a0International Fellowship from Seoul Art Space\u00a0and a 2015 Ocean State Fiction Scholarship from The University of Rhode Island.\u00a0An alumnus of Brandeis University and The University of Edinburgh, she gives regular readings in Brooklyn,\u00a0most recently at the Manhattanville Reading Series at Unnameable Books.\u00a0<\/p>\n
