"The
human form and the drawn line give structure and focus to my work.
The human presence in a painting has an expressive power and allows
entry. I use marks that are not just mimetic, but retain their identity
as marks made by the human hand. Exploring the relationship between
the human body and the lyrical, calligraphic mark, the nervous, the
tentative mark, or the angry angular mark; the smear, the jab - marks
that represent and marks set free from their function as imitation,
and the links between them."
