Banal to the Bone

Directed by Philip Shane

This short documentary illustrates the plight of Frederick Z, a genius suffering from the worst condition an artist can have. You'll see Frederick living, creating, and struggling until his life is on the brink. With testimonials from his devoted wife, caring friends, and his psychiatrist. The film was made in the innaugural round of short comedy films by The Leche Magica Film Group, a collective of writers, directors, actors and comedians in New York City. The Leche Magica filimmakers wrote stories based on a single word suggestion from the audience at their shows. The suggestion which inspired this film was the word "prison." Starring Brian Huskey, Julie Brister, Gideon Evans, John Ross Bowie, Rob Corddry and Seth Morris. Written, directed and edited by Ducts' resident idea man, Philip Shane.
