Trumpet Fiction held its first reading of the 2016-2107 season on Oct. 8, with Mary Cool, Editor-in-Chief of Ducts, making her debut as co-host with series founder Jonathan Kravetz. And all of our readers shone–partly from their own brilliance, and partly from the glowing light on our podium–as can be evidenced in the photographs below from our beloved venue, KGB Lit Bar, on the Lower East Side.
But seriously, we were more than honored to have three amazing fiction readers, including Julian Tepper reading an excerpt from his second novel Ark, which was just released and has garnered a much-coveted New York Times review; Erika Swyler trying out a moving excerpt from her second novel (in progress), which she’s now penning after her successful debut novel, The Book of Speculation; and finally, Stephen Langlois, who closed out our evening with short fiction and a job application for “sentient beings” (Look for more of Stephen as the newest fiction editor at Flapperhouse).
Thanks to everyone who joined us this past rainy Saturday, and if you missed us this time, join us on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 7-9 pm for the next installment! It’s free and open to the public.
