There is something marvelously poignant and humble in your litany of slavic connections, lessons and travels leaving apparently leaving you with an absence of knowledge that you clearly think you should have. When the old lady opened the door in her nightgown you so successfully evoked your grandmother that I had to keep reminding myself that this was not in fact her.

The story left me surprised with its unusual twist–the negative aspects–of disaster relief. I guess while enjoying the linguistic non-escapade, I couldn’t help but wish that you had been a bit gentler on yourself and the relief effort altogether. But definitely a good tale well told.
