Think not only of only Clarence Day and Life With Father and Life with Mother, but Kathryn Forbes’s great sucess with Mama’s Bank Account, turned into one of the rirst, if not the first, T.V.sit-coms as early as 1948 or ’49. You also confirm me in ny rightness in telling my mother, when she insists on her “censorship rights,” which would obviously emasculate my work, “Now, Mom, where would we all be today on the American literary scene if Philip Roth had let his mother blue-pencil his work,” etc. So keep at it, Kipp, and I look forward to seeing your whole book, in completed form, between real covers!
