Ilana is an Israeli-American writer living in NYC. Her work has appeared in The New Yorker, McSweeney's, Tin House, Printer's Row, The Rumpus, The Toast, The Butter, Hypertext Magazine, Split Lip Magazine, and more. She is also the founder of The Other Stories at theotherstories.org, a podcast that makes it just a little bit easier for writers to get heard. She tweets a lot @ilanaslightly and writes sometimes at slightlyignorant.com.

Ileana, our Ducts essays editor, is a Romanian-American writer. She has a master’s degree in comparative literature and a doctorate in women’s studies. Her essays and short stories have appeared in Ducts, Mulberry Fork Review, The Rumpus, and edited collections. She has performed as part of the Trumpet Fiction series and is at work on a collection of essays on borders, love, and life in a second language. She teaches writing and women’s studies courses at Rutgers University and writes under the pen name Ileana Florian.
